How to Fill and Seal a Cremation Pendant Safely

How to Fill and Seal a Cremation Pendant Safely

Filling a cremation pendant can feel emotional. Many people worry about doing it “wrong.” The process is actually simple, and taking it slowly helps.

Here is a clear, practical guide.

What You Will Need

  • Your cremation pendant
  • A small amount of ashes
  • The filling kit (usually a small funnel)
  • A clean sheet of paper or a small tray
  • Optional: a tiny drop of clear-drying adhesive

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Prepare a clean workspace

Place a sheet of white paper or a shallow tray on the table. This makes it easier to see any stray particles and gather them if needed.

  2. Open the pendant

Most stainless steel cremation pendants have a small screw or threaded stopper. Turn it gently anti-clockwise until it comes free.

  3. Add the ashes

Place the funnel into the opening. Carefully pour or tap a small pinch of ashes into the chamber. You only need a tiny amount — the chamber does not need to be full.

  4. Seal the pendant

Replace the stopper and screw it closed firmly. Some people choose to add a very small drop of clear adhesive around the threads for extra security. This is optional but can give added peace of mind.

  5. Clean the outside

Wipe the pendant gently with a soft cloth.

Helpful Tips

  • Work in a calm, well-lit space.
  • You can ask a trusted person to help if you prefer.
  • Any leftover ashes can be returned to the main urn.
  • If the stopper feels stiff, turn it slowly — do not force it.

After Filling

Once sealed, your cremation necklace is ready to wear. Many people find comfort in placing it on and feeling its presence close to them.
